This is a first for me.....I was just watching Ugly Betty and for some reason thought that it would be a great idea to start blogging.....I don't know how many people out there read these things......God knows I never have.....
A few months ago I wanted to start a Dance and Theatre Newsletter....the reason being that we often don't know what is going on in the world of the Stage Arts in South Africa....then it dawned on me that as an artist I always complain that works are never reviewed....
THIS IS A WAY TO CHANGE THAT!!!!!
I am planning on writing reviews of works that I have the honour of viewing but at the same time invite all of you to mail your reviews to me and I will post them on this blog!!!
This is the perfect opportunity for us as artists and as theatre goers to start having work recognised and talked about....
Recently, in the National Budget, the National Arts Council budget was cut to 14 000 000, which works out at a mere 2Million per arts discipline for 2010.....with the amount of Artists that we have in this country it is obvious that these monies will not go far....
OK!!! Well enough of that....I invite you all to mail me or post comments on this site as to what kind of content you would like to see....
Th next 2 weeks sees JHB hosting the FNB Dance Umbrella and I invite all of you who see work to write about it....
Come On!!!!!Let's change this downward spiral into an upward swing!!!!!
